Benjamin and Melissa

July 27, 2009

Since Rueyloon is leaving for Vietnam today for some pro bono charity work, he will be too busy to post up this series of beautiful images. I will do it on his behalf.

It’s so nice having kids to grace the wedding, especially they are your own kids. Two pretty little angels all dolled up for the ceremony and shooting them was a breeze when they are excited over their mum’s wedding. The youngest has this pair of ravishing translucent blue eyes that really just captures our attention. Enough words, lets just enjoy the pictures.

Wedding Card

July 12, 2009

Am back from the weekends, was busy filming back-to-back weddings with Brenda and Lawrence. At the end of the second day my whole body was aching like mad! I think I need a massage badly. Anyway I found an interesting wedding card at Weiyu & Amanda’s wedding!

There are not too many weddings that I’ll end up having a whisky with the couple at the end of the night. Chilling out and having a party… I do that at most wedding, but to have a whisky and just lie back and relax, I only do so at the special ones. These are weddings where every element comes together. I don’t read the stars, but I’m sure somewhere out in the mysteries of space the stars are aligned. Of course, it has to be a wedding where I’m very confidant of what I’ve achieved as well to kick back in this way.

This is the wedding of Suan Jin and Rachel, we went to Beijing earlier this year to have their pre-wedding photos taken. Now it’s back to Singapore for their wedding day. They are 2 seemingly different people, as Suan Jin said himself, they even have different accents. Suan Jin is in banking and finance while Rachel works with NGO. (teaching forest tribes how to find alternative source of income, working with governments on policies of birth controls…… you know, that kind of stuff)

Rachel’s wacky aunty, and her wackier friend are memories I take with me from this wedding. There are not too many weddings that the official photographer gets told “excuse me, you are blocking me !” :p

So at the end of the shoot, with just 7 hours in between before I need to catch my early flight to Japan, I went over to Alley Bar to have my whisky with Suan Jin and Rachel. Like I said…… only for the special ones :)

Moving on ……

July 7, 2009

When I started doing photography full time, I worked from home, then around 3 years into it pretty much on a wimp I decided to get a studio. With just 1 month’s rental money in my bank as back up, I set up shop along Selegie Road.

We had grand ideas during that time. Let’s have a studio cum art gallery we would say, a cool place for friends to hang out. Let’s host exhibitions (which we did 2 with the Goethe Institute), let it be a meeting point for artists and photographers (which we did by the setting up the Radius art group).

5 years later, the lofty art photography dreams has taken a back seat, although I still manages to keep up with at least 1 exhibition a year, my baby now is 36frames. Having started my business by doing meeting at Starbucks, McDonalds and Burger Kings (I had my first signup at BurgerKing Raffles City), today I’m very proud of having my own comfy meeting area, with leather seats, huge LCD TV and of course an imitation arc lamp. The team has grown too, Lawrence is now very well known for his photography in his own right, and Eileen is sought after for our signature style of videography.

So what’s next ? I feel the wind of change blowing. I think a change of environment might be in store. Being at the edge of Little India has its charm, but it might be time to mix it up. To challenge ourselves again lest we get too set in our ways, lest we get too comfy.

We are pretty close to getting the new place, I’ve had many sleepless night thinking about it. I guess that must be a sign that I’m much older now. When I got my current office I decided on it within days and it was the only place I checked out. The devil may care spirit was much alive then, I was young and irrational.

So Let’s COOK IT UP ! Let’s STIR UP A NEW POT !

stay tuned..

Baby Elena

July 4, 2009

I did Keith and Lynette’s wedding photography quite some time ago and now they have their first adorable baby girl, Elena. She’s 9 months old now and is at the stage of learning to walk.

Photo taking baby Elena is quite a breeze. In all my baby shoots, this one is for sure the easiest. She kept smiling and showing off her top two and bottom two teeth. Haha! How cute, right?! I was initially afraid that doing a baby shoot on a outdoor location is not easy. The hot weather could have made the baby uncomfortable. But seems like baby Elena loves the sun and the outdoors.

My wife and my boy tagged along with the shoot too. Maybe I will show a couple of my boy’s photos next round. :)
