Favorite Photos from 2008

February 27, 2009

Just came back from Qatar and it was a roller coster ride again. Hope to get some R&R during the lull time in the middle of the year. Looking forward to my Trip to Japan then. We’ll hit Tokyo first before heading for Hokkaido. Then it’ll be back to Tokyo for more shopping ! :) Thinking of going to Kyoto or maybe up to Nikko. I’ve been to these places before but Kim hasn’t so it might still be good to experience it together.

The outlook this year is very good despite the gloomy forecast of the economy, my own investments are all in the red, the less I look at it the better. We have some great couples signing up with us and I think we’ll have a blast at their shoot. And I’m pretty happy with how the team is coming together, (still looking for another videographer to join my team, anyone out there ? the vacancy is still available :) ).

Here are some of my favorite photos from 2008. Kinda went with a bang entering all of them in the 4th Quarter WPJA competition.

From Vietnam, With Love

February 16, 2009

One fine morning, Phuong called unexpectedly and in the next 2 hours, Phuong and Nga were in my studio discussing the pre-wedding shoot away. Everything was in a rush, because you see, Phuong and Nga were on their last 2nd day of their honeymoon here in Singapore and they were leaving the very next day evening. The couple is from Hanoi, Vietnam. A very nice place to visit and I was there on a pro bono assignment many months ago.

Anyway, we settled to shoot next day early morning. So I asked the couple, what outfits are they going to wear for the shoot. They told me they came prepared and had brought their wedding suit and wedding gown. I went speechless. They brought their wedding gown on their honeymoon. Apparently, the couple had already wanted to book us and notifiy us in advance but they were afraid of the time constraint. So they just brought everything over and fortunately for them, they were able to find some time and hence looked us up straightaway.

Phuong, although a bit stiff at the begininning, was gradually lead in by his wife who is a very natural poser and with a great smile. Well, all of us had a wonderful shoot that morning despite the short time frame and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. :)

In about 3 hours time I’ll be on a flight to Doha ! This is the first time I’ll be heading to the middle east, hope there is some time between shoots for me to catch some sights. I’ll be away for 5 days on a commercial shoot for a middle eastern bank. In the mean time, a commercial shoot which I did last year should be out about now. It will feature personalities like Tommy Koh, Taufik Batista, Yip Pin Xiu etc… and I got to work closely with the lovely Kit Chan for this campaign. The campaign is the 2009 Total Defense Campaign, watch out for it :)

Lastly Congratulations to Jason for his exhibition opening tonight.

A Great Start!

February 11, 2009

A grrrreat start for Year 2009!

Firstly, I have completed my last reservist cycle! Can you imagine my in-camp training started from the 3rd day of Lunar New Year?! Well, now that it’s over, I will hand over the responsibility of protecting the nation to the young generations. Haha!

Secondly, a new website design is on the way and it is going to be launched really very soon! Rueyloon was like glued to his seat whole day for the past few days and focussed all his energy into selecting new photos for the new gallery and coming out with new editing techniques to make the photos look even nicer. I just can’t wait to see the new website online!

Lastly 36frames likes to welcome Luther to our dynamic and passionate photography team! In the nearby future, you will get to see his beautiful pictures all over the blog here!
:)

Beijing, Here we come!

February 1, 2009

This is so so exciting! Yes, we are flying in to Beijing to do a pre-wedding shoot and it should be some time in the mid of March.

I’m just so exhilarated about the trip, maybe I should start packing now. Haha!
